The first time I spoke with Michelle & Anthony they were taking a few weeks off from their acting careers in Los Angeles to visit family in Hawaii and set up as many local vendor appointments as possible in preparation for their September 29, 2012 wedding at Waimea Valley. As it turned out, I was already on my way into town when Anthony called requesting a consultation and was able to meet with their whole wedding posse the very same evening! I remember feeling the warm, enthusiastic, smiley and gracious vibe of this bunch and knowing it would be beyond fabulous to work with them all!

Waimea Valley’s lush botanical gardens and strolling wild peacocks provided the perfect natural backdrop for a gorgeous event as well as all the inspiration we needed for a theme we playfully called ‘Vintage Peacock’.
top left: bridesmaid bouquets doubled as reception centerpieces using these patio candelabras from Pier1 with a small cylinder vase inside. Tea light candles were replaced with battery operated lights to survive the breeze and not burn the delicate petals. top center: escort cards were ordered from moo.com and pinned to twin with mini clothespins. A small brass key and a note on the back “a key to the cure” let guests know that the bride and groom had made a donation in their honor to the Lupus Foundation.
Event Essentials worked with us to transform the pavilion into a romantic reception experience. With only 80 guests attending we decided to make the space more intimate by putting up pipe and drape to conceal the second level. We also hid the 20+ hunter green light fixtures by creating a dropped ceiling with three large fabric panels. Add in chandeliers and soft amber uplighting and voila!
Hand stamped muslin bags by Ever After Events had the couples initials as well as the name of each person in the wedding party! The gifts inside were even cuter! The boys received Hawaiian board shorts and the girl-terry robes with their names in purple!
Anthony & Michelle, being the warm and generous couple they are, wanted each of their guests to feel the Aloha so we ordered these custom stamped canvas bags from Etsy. (bags & tags from JennifersCookies & WeddingsByJamie) Inside were local Hawaiian favs: Maui Babe After Sun Lotion, pineapple shaped lilikoi cookies from Honolulu Cookie Company, Macadamia Nuts, Hawaiian spring water and the cutest sample size bags of coffee from Coffee Gallery in Haleiwa!
